No matter if it’s a kids show, graduate show, or high budget show, I’m always using every creative tool I have to bring great ideas into the project. I search for what makes an artist unique and interesting. I pass down the guidance and knowledge I received from over 20 years of working with the best directors and performers in the industry. I focus on telling your story, showing your spark, and creating a true sense of wonder.
As a theater clown, I am used to working with emotions. So, when directing, my instinct is to start from an emotional space to create a show concept. I lean toward humanly-charged concepts clear enough to be expressed by the artists and be read by the audience. I call on the artists natural movement vocabulary, quirks, and skills to tell the story, shape acts, stage numbers, and create transitions.
